Jhumur [Part-1]
Jhumur Dance and Song
Introduction :-
In this sophisticated lifestyle of cities and of towns one thing we really miss today is a full breath of life - life which is full of carelessness about the future, full of presence in Present, full of mirth, charm, happiness. I think satisfaction doesn't come from apparent showing off of gorgeous lifestyle , or earning lots of money without reason, or working day in and day out in search of glory, rather it comes from simple leading of life with all its daily duties, spending free times with family, finding leisure and pleasure in day to day homely works, scattering love and respect to all human being and the most is live a mundane life close to earth in the lap of Nature. This satisfaction is the source of love and tolerance and outcome of happiness and Peace what we all are searching for.
I am going to tell you the story of those people who work hard in the lap of nature, smell of dust comes out from their body, talking to the sun for whole day turn their skin blackish , poverty is their closest relative but they live with it happily , ignorant about bookish knowledge but full of life's experience. They never cry in miseries but fight with situations, never complain about their fate but gain useries by courage, never want excess but only the essentials. They are as strong as the stoney land of Purulia and Bankura but as colourful as the Palash, their nature is as mystic as the forests of Jhargram but as intoxicating as Mahua and their words are as rustic as the boulders and murams of Paschim Midnapore but as lovely as velvety red Shimul. Yes I am talking about the backward class people of Laterite or Red Soil Land of West Bengal.
Have you ever lost yourself in the sweet tone of Bansuri of a cowboy when you were passing by on your way nearer to some cattle grazing land in the mid summer days?Have you ever lost yourself in the intoxicating fragrance of Mahua flowers during late spring? Have you ever lost yourself in the bright eyes of a teenage black girl and found yourself mad by the sound being raised by her nupur and glass bangles? If so then you will certainly fall in love with Jhumur song and dance too with all its mesmerizing rhythm produced by the accompaniment of Madol.
